JULIAN J. BLUM
Author
Julian J. Blum was born in Baltimore in 1928 and served in the U.S. Navy before relocating to Phoenix in 1953 to attend Arizona State University. Beginning in 1954, he embarked on a distinguished career as an Arizona real estate broker, mortgage banker, syndicator and developer, specializing in transformative downtown Phoenix projects.
His civic leadership spans numerous organizations: he served as Vice President (and Silver Key‑man Award recipient) of the Phoenix Jaycees Board; Board President of Jewish Family & Children’s Services; and founding Board member and Vice President of Central Arizona Shelter Services. He was a member of the Arizona Legislature’s Task Force on Homelessness—where he also lobbied—and served on the Board of Valley Forward and its Rio Salado Task Force. Julian founded the New Day Educational Center (now the UMOM New Day Center) and contributed articles to Valley Forward, The Real Estate Press, Arizona Human Services Magazine and The Center City Magazine.
After retiring from real estate brokerage in 2016, he has devoted his time to promoting Last Wishes 101, an estate‑planning guide he authored with elder‑law and financial‑planning professionals.
